“This is the bit when we give you the ‘spiel’!!
We moved to Shrivenham in August 2000, into the POW, re-opening the pub on the 17th.
Being tenants with Wadworth and Co brewery, we naturally stock their range of seasonal and regular beers “handmade in Devizes”. It is our intention to provide a pub where people across the board feel welcome, and can come to relax, drink, eat, chat, read, work or surf (we are Wi-Fi). We are particularly keen for an environment where women and families feel welcome.
Within the service sector, smoking is a major issue. We have taken it upon ourselves to make the POW totally non-smoking indoors from 2nd January 2007. This is jumping the gun a bit but we feel that it will make the transition easier for people when the national ban on smoking in the workplace finally comes into effect.
Another major issue / change of late are the new Licensing Laws. Although we have decided to continue with ‘traditional’ opening hours, we are able to serve later if it is busy / special event etc. (this will require us all to ensure quiet when leaving the pub ad village).
opening hours
Despite the new licensing laws we still hold ‘traditional’ hours, however if we are particularly busy or are holding a party or function we may serve longer.
